Hot one

Date March 11, 2007

It’s been a stinking hot day- so much for autumn coming on.

We went out for brekky and a movie today- finally. We went and saw Bobby, which was so much better than I expected. There were parts that seemed quite preachy, but the last 10 minutes made up for so much. It was more than the politics; it was a human connection to that time. As someone who didn’t live through it, it really gave me a perspective.

The cast was great; I loved Laurence Fishburne and Freddy Rodriguez. Lindsay Lohan and Elijah Wood, their performances and story I found a little jarring and unreal. Overall it was good. I’m not sure why I keep my poorly neglected review log. I really should put some more effort into it and actually get out there and see some more movies in the cinema.

The movie also got me thinking- we live in a time when there is really very little true hope. Everyone is cynical, self centered and out for themselves. We don’t feel despair because we really don’t feel true hope. It’s such a pity- I can’t imagine the loss that people who saw the Kennedy and King assasinations felt.

Currently watching Millennium on the couch- it’s a Sunday.
