Cozy weekend
I’m about to head off to bed, but I wanted to blog.
It’s been a nice weekend, I achieved a lot and I feel calm.
Just finished skating, which was great. Also did ‘Learn to skate’ classes on Saturday- which were full of kids and amusing, at least for me. Also got my computer fixed and cooked up these little gems.
Some yummy orange and cardamon cupcakes from 500 Cupcakes, which the lovely Frank gave me for my birthday. I’ve used a couple of recipes as a base and then made variations with them, this was the first one I made straight up and they were great.
I also baked a seed loaf, very sweet, but more than passable.
Today has been quite lazy and lovely, on the computer, talked to Frank. Then skating.

I don’t usually do these things, but Frank tagged me, so I guess I should oblige.
Truly- there’s a lot to talk about, but my head doesn’t work. It’s better than no entry at all.

Picture a day- part deux
This time last year, I started a project of taking a picture a day. Like many other projects before, I started with the best of intentions- but somehow couldn’t follow through. Sometime after I came back from Japan in September, the wheels had fallen off. Somehow my pics for the 365 project today only add up to 176- that’s not even one for every second day. Filed under picture a day, Photography | Comment (1)Brakes and breaks
It seems something always puts the brakes on what I want to do. I was sick through to Tuesday- brakes on skating and the new job.
Already I’ve broken my promise to walk and record. I missed the perfect photograph. Instead of being grateful I’m feeling a little unloved and resentful.
I wish I could be more postitive about this positivity thing ![]()
Changes
It’s been a while. I guess 2008 is going to be one of those years- not one thing, but lots of little things eating away at me. Like being nibbled to death by ducks.
So I’m trying to change- change me, my habits, my situation, my mood. That’s hard.
So today I …..
- started my new job
- recorded my feelings
- walked
- wondered
- photographed
- talked to a stranger
- met new challenges positively.
They are little steps, but indeed a start.
Tomororow I will…
- walk
- record
- and be grateful
So long ago
While blocking hideous thoughts brought on by the stories on the nightly news, anxieties brought on by lots of work and lame excuses for disengaging for a variety of personal reasons, I’m on a bit of nostalgia stroll.
Some time, about rive ears ago, when there was a short time when gay marriage was acknowledged in San Francisco, I sent a bunch of flowers to a random newly married same sex couple. Not an unusual thing for a lefty ex-arts student like me. Done in the spirit of recently married woman who wants all people to have the same right.
Five years later, that right has been restored and this time it seems more important, for a variety of reasons. Maybe now I know more people comfortable in their sexuality, or that someone close to me recently came out- today, I’m happy and relieved. I might send more flowers, but definitely my best thoughts.
Hopefully normal blogging will return soon- and with some changes ![]()
Sex in suburbia
No excuses about being slack- it’s the same old same old, same reasons for pic of the day; although I have have mobs to upload.
What has brought me out o my winter slumber is reflection on how I am changing and mellowing over time, highlighted in particular, by a lot of undue hype about a particular movie. Continue reading »

Well, it’s getting late on a Sunday afternoon, and there’s still a pile of marking staring at me. I’m feeling rather chipper thought- because I’ve worked my way through a paralysing number of tabs on my desktop.
It might seem strange to suggested that a number of links to website would leave me lost, but they have, for weeks. I’ve had them there- cluttering up firefox, while below, I do my current work.
That’s as far as I can explain, but I feel incredibly unburdened by doing so.
I’ve also done a few other (computing) odd jobs to day, including setting up and redirecting the team website-

Winter nestling time
It’s strange what we do when the weather changes- I didn’t really notice until tonight.
It may seem to outsiders that we’ve been a little less social in the last few week, but I blame the weather.
Re-evaluating
… or working on the things I can change. Continue reading »
